About Us
The Coffin Bean & Co. is the lovechild of a lifelong dream, with a dash of our dark humor, and a whole lot of caffeine.
I'm Jen — the heart behind the brews — and my husband, Mark, is the quiet force behind the scenes, the "& Co." who helped turn my strange little vision into reality.
The idea for The Coffin Bean was actually born during a camping trip in our restored 1962 Serro Scotty trailer just outside of Salem, Massachusetts. Something about the haunting charm of the town stirred up an idea: a mobile coffee shop with a macabre twist — a space for the odd ducks, the misfits, and the beautifully unconventional. Mark believed in it just as much as I did, and when we got back, he threw himself into helping me build it from the ground up — from transforming our vintage trailer to giving new life to an old hearse that now pulls it.
Before all this, I spent my days as a mental health advocate, working most of my professional career in social services. I poured my heart into that work, but eventually, I hit a wall — the weight of corporate social work crushed me.
I knew I needed to create something outside of myself, something that still held meaning but wouldn't break my spirit. Mental health and suicide awareness are still deeply important to me, and in a strange way, The Coffin Bean has become an extension of that mission — a space where anyone can show up as they are, be a little weird, and find community without judgment.
So here we are — serving gravely good coffee to kindred spirits like you. Whether you're here for the caffeine, the company, or just a moment of quiet in the chaos, know that you're always welcome. At The Coffin Bean, you don’t have to fit in — you just have to show up.
We're so glad to see you when you do
